  16. The arangetam of Shanker Arunasalam. This was Australia's first mridangam arangetam. With Shanker were performing:
  17. The arangetam of Prasanna Chandrakumar. This, the second mridangam debut in Australia, featured, alongside Prasanna, the renowned violinist, A.G.A. Gnanasundaram.
  18. Smt. Geetha Rajashekar, 27th October, 1996. This reknowned vocalist was accompanied by A.G.A Gnanasundaram on Violin (a senior student of Lalgudi Jayaraman), M. Ravichandhira on Mridangam, Shanker Arunasalam on Kanchira, and Prasanna Chandrakumar on Ghatam, in a resoundingly successful concert. The concert raised $6000 for Shri Shiva Vishnu Temple, and concluded with the title Gaanaamutha Vaari being bestowed on Smt. Rajashekar.
  19. The Australian Art Orchestra's Concert Tour of India. The Academy's vocal & mridangam student, Adrian Sherriff (one of Australia's best Trombone players) with the Academy's overseas' patron, Mridangam maestro Karaikudi R Mani, from India as a guest artiste, just completed a 2 week tour of India - New Delhi, Bombay and Calcutta - with Paul Grabowski's Australian Art Orchestra. The Academy was instrumental in organising this collaborative venture The highlight of the program was Karaikudi R mani's piece on vasantha pravakam being played by the entire 22- member band, featuring solos by Mani and T.V.Vasan (on Ghatam). The piece was arranged for big band by Adrian Sherriff. This program was very highly reviewed by both Indian and Australian press.
  20. AGA Gnanasundaram and M. Ravichandhira, Nov 96. The violin recital featuring these two exemplary artists at Yume Ya Gallery in Collingwood further extended the academy's placing of Karnatic music alongside western classical styles.
  21. A two-day Conference on Tyagaraja's contribution to Music & Dance in commemoration of the composer's 150th Anniversary .
  22. A jugal-bandhi concert on Sunday August 31,1997, at Dallas Brooks Hall, featuring the legendary Zakir Hussain on tabla, with Dr. N. Ramani on flute.
  23. Rhythms and Ragas, in conjunction with the Melbourne International Festival, featuring performances by Mridangam Maestro Karaikudi R. Mani, and Dr. N. Ramani on flute, with accompaniment by A.G.A. Gnanasundaram on Violin, and T.V.Vasan on Ghatam.
  24. Into the Fire, for conjunction with the Wangaratta Jazz Festival, featuring Mridangam Maestro Karaikudi R. Mani, T.V.Vasan on Ghatam, and the Australian Art Orchestra. Monday, 3rd November, Wangaratta Town Hall.
  25. Opening TYME concert: Saturday 22nd November, 6pm, at the Music Auditorium, Monash University Arts Precinct, featuring Shankar Arunasalam on Mridangam, Adrian Sherif on Morsing, Jayashri Ramachandran on Vocal, and Narmatha Ravichandira, violin.
  26. A kanartic jughal-bhandi concert, 11 April 1998 at the Yarra Valley Performing Arts Centre: O S Arun (vocal) with Thiyagarajan Ramani on the flute as part of the second TYME (Talented Young Musicians Ensemble) concert series.
